If
you're not sure which class to attend, there are some brief
descriptions below. Feel free to mix and match classes to suit your
ability. Remember, you only pay once for the entire night. If in any
doubt, come along at 7.30 for the Basics class or ask us! There's also
time to practice to some great Swing music during the social dancing at 8:15 and 10:00 pm.
If you're new to Lindy Hop, we suggest you start with the Basics course
which starts from scratch twice a term and run in approximately 6 week
rotations. The content of the two basics courses held each
term will
vary slightly but, in the main, this class covers the essentials of
Lindy Hop, mixing basic 6-beat footwork with some simple Charleston
moves, and aims to get you out on the dance floor as soon as possible.
Feel free to do the Basics course as many times as you wish until you
feel ready to move on to the Core Moves.

The Intermediate #1
course
also runs twice a term and is designed as a
cross-over between the Basics and Improver/Intermediate classes. It is
suitable for those who feel ready to progress from the Basics class as
well as for Improver/Intermediate dancers as it covers the core 8-beat
moves such as Lindy Turn, Lindy Circle, Swingout and Back Charleston
and some of the basic strolls and jazz steps. We hope that more
advanced dancers will use this opportunity to improve their technique
and at the same time help less experienced dancers to progress.

Once you have mastered the
Basics and the Core Moves, you're probably
looking for more complex moves and some variations to spice up your
social dancing and improve your musicality so the Intermediate #2
class is suitable for dancers who are already
comfortable with social dancing. (If you're not sure, you can always
try the class with a partner but we'd suggest that you don't rotate.)
We will also incorporate some of the more advanced strolls and jazz
steps into these classes, and some balboa tasters.
